+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1419283 +++
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:58.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/58.0
Build ID: 20180118215408
Steps to reproduce:
Downloaded V57+ (Quantum) and executed.
Actual results:
Very high CPU, memory and disk usage. I had to end the task and run Edge to get anything done.
Expected results:
Expected normal use of resources.
Gecko Profiler Snaps:
https://perfht.ml/2H2LpP4
https://perfht.ml/2H5wiV7
Symptom occurs on all pages/URLs. Browser freezes frequently. All basic functionality affected, possibly symptomatic of underlying high resource utilization: Filling form fields, cut and paste, scrolling, etc.
Have tried basic diagnostic steps listed here with no result.

does it make a difference when you go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > privacy & security'' panel and under permissions check the setting to '''prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser''' and restart once?
Interestingly it does. Firefox runs its normally speedy self with that option checked. Think it's interference from my AV program ?? This behavior is not exhibited on any of my other endpoints running Firefox and the same policy, AV, etc.

third-party programs like realplayer downloader would be known to hook into the browser this way (Bug 1418290)...
That's a very distinct possibility. I do have Real Downloaded on this machine only. Will keep an eye out for developments on this issue. In the meantime I think I'm good. Thanks for the insight.

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:58.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/58.0
I've tested this issue in Windows 10 x64 with the latest Firefox release (58.0.2) and the latest Nightly (60.0a1-20180209005628) and I haven't managed to reproduce the issue.
After loading multiple tabs like youtube, vimeo pages and also other webpages like facebook, twitter, LinkedIn etc.
The RAM memory and CPU usage was below 20%. No hangs, latency or other issues occured.
Could you also please retest this using the latest Firefox release and latest Nightly build and report back the results? When doing this, please use a new clean Firefox profile, maybe even safe mode, to eliminate custom settings as a possible cause (https://goo.gl/AR5o9d).

I am the OP on this problem. I should have gotten back to you sooner for which I apologize. After I posted the problem, I ran EDGE for several days, starting Firefox almost daily. After about 10 days, the problem abated and within two days I was back to Firefox exclusively. I have no idea why it "healed".
Based on comment 0, comment 6 and comment 7 I will mark this bug as WFM.
John Johnson, Todd would you please reopen this bug if you encounter this issue again in the future?
