I, as a Firefox user, would like to have a separate search engine setting for private browsing.

Severity: normal → enhancement

I think the correct component is Firefox::Private Browsing. Please correct if this is not the right component.
Component: Untriaged → Private Browsing
Search might be another option here, but I think that component (Private Browsing) is more suited towards this bug in particular. Thank you Stefan!

Adding pdol to the bug
We are considering doing a study on whether or not users would use this functionality. It isn't the highest in our priority list at the moment, as it requires a bunch of changes to support that study, but we'll likely circle back to it in the future. CC'ing Javaun
