RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 218257

People

(Reporter: doaks80, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:58.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/58.0
Build ID: 20180206200532

Steps to reproduce:

Tried to "Open" a PDF file via the Amazon S3 console. Right click on file, click "Open".

I am using latest 58 on Windows Server 2016.

Actual results:

A new tab opened for the PDF, then another, and another, and so on. Hundreds of tabs appeared, and I could only stop this vicious open loop by closing Firefox.

Expected results:

One tab should have opened with the PDF file displayed.
1. Into the location bar, enter about:preferences#general
2. Scroll down to the Applications section.
3. Set the PDF entry (or entries) to "Preview in Firefox", or "Save file", or "Always ask".
4. If clicking the file link results in a "What should Firefox do with this file?" dialog box, do not choose to open the file with Firefox. This is what creates the endless loop. You can use the Open In Browser add-on to do this safely.
