Details
In 0.99, ctrl-tab allowed to go to the url line and then right back to the active tab. Now the the itinerary of the focus includes all tabs of the current window, and you can't tell when the focus is on one of the inactive tabs because there's no visual clue. That's really weird. Either enable ctrl-tab to actually _switch_ tabs, not just give focus to inactive tabs, or revert to the old behavior of going between the current tab and the url line only. The latter is preferable, because for switching tabs there are other means (ctrl-pgdn/up).

This might not be the right place for discussion on how ctrl-tab should work, but with most apps that I've seen (in Windows) ctrl-tab will switch between documents or windows within the main application window. Is this similar for Linux and/or Mac? I would think that since ctrl-L is already a mechanism for jumping to the address bar, why can't ctrl-tab be used for cycling through open tabs?
I would agree with the idea to use ctrl-tab for tab switching, if: - ctrl-tab is made to actually switch tabs (now it only moves focus to inactive tabs which is weird) - ctrl-tab is made to NEVER move focus to the url bar, because in this case this would be confusing - to make jumping to url line and back easier, Esc and Ctrl-L in the url bar must move focus back to the browser window (now only Tab can be used for this, but this may not be intuitive for everyone) - F6 must be similarly resolved; now it acts exactly as ctrl-tab, so it should be made either to switch tabs, or to go to the url line and back (I would vote for the latter)

This worksforme on a current Linux trunk build -- ctrl-tab just goes between url bar and content area.

Recommend the following CTRL-tab behaviour: - If current window contains multiple tabs, should switch between those tabs (cycle) - If current window does not contain tabs, should switch between active mozilla windows (like Netscape 3 and 4 does and I consider it to be a very usefull feature which I miss in Mozilla).

WFM in 2002 060704 trunk. This was fixed in bug 106123, "Ctrl+Tab focuses hidden panes of tabbrowser". According to comments in bug 106123, it was also fixed for 1.0.1 but not for 1.0. See bug 136915 for discussion about making Ctrl+Tab switch between tabs in tabbed browser. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 106123 ***
