[Affected versions]:
- Firefox 59.0b14 (20180301022608)
[Affected platforms]:
- Win 7 64-bit
- Mac OS X 10.13.2
- Ubuntu 14.04 x32
[Steps to reproduce]:
1.Set the profile for TAAR add-on.
2.Install the signed add-on version 1.0.9.
3.Open three tabs.
4.Click on the “Browse Add-ons” option.
5.Remove the experiment add-on.
6.Observe that in about:telemetry the study_state : exit is sent.
7.Restart the browser.
8.Reinstall the add-on.
[Expected results]:
- The user is not eligible, the study does not start.
[Actual results]:
- The study runs again.
This bug can only be caused by manual installation of the addon xpi and will never occur under normal SHIELD study deployment conditions. Nonetheless, this edge case could lead to diluted experiment data and will be accounted for in post experiment analysis of the install/uninstall pings per client_id to exclude data from clients manually entering the experiment more than once.
