The black squares here are characters in the "Ahem" font.

In each line here, the missing square represents the "b" letter, from the string "base x x" in the testcase.  Given that that one character is consistently missing (not rendered) here *and* that this is Win7, I'm gonna call this a version of bug 1392106.
