144464 - Moz hangs when it tries to make itself the default mail application

On Moz 1.0 RC 2 (Win XP):

Mail opens and asks if I want to make it the default
mail app.  I say yes.  The dialog goes away and the app
becomes unresponsive (hangs).  I wait a long time then
kill the process.  Next time I start it, it does not
ask me whether I want to make it the default app (I may
have asked it not to.)

Now when I do Start->Run mailto:[e-mail]
MS freakin Outlook pops up, starts MS freakin Word to
compose a message and tells me that Outlook is not the
default app either!!!

I'm not getting that error message mentioned in bug 144456
so I filed a new bug.

did you perform a clean installation? (not on top of an older build)

I'm not having this problem with this build.
