Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0
Build ID: 20180310025718
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a tab and navigate to a page
2. Pin the tab
3. cmd + click a link in the page
Actual results:
A new tab opens in foreground (I'm forced out of the pinned tab).
Expected results:
A new tab should've opened in background, and I should continue on the pinned tab. This is the behavior for non-pinned tabs; I believe pinned tabs should behave the same way.

I have tested this issue on OS X 10.13 using latest Firefox release build 59.01. I could not managed to reproduce the issue. For me when I pin a tab, then press cmd and click on a any link I`m not forced to the newly opened tab. My view stays in the pinned tab.
Could you confirm for me that in about:preferences#general page under Tabs section, the checkbox for "When you open a link in a new, switch to it immediately" is not checked ?
I can see the reported behavior only if the mentioned checkbox is checked.
I think the proper component for this issue would be Firefox::Tabbed Browser. Please correct if this is not the right component.

I confirm that the "When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" is not checked.
One more thing I should say is that if instead of cmd+click I right-click and then click "Open Link in New Tab", it behaves correctly (I'm not forced to the newly opened tab).

Could you please re-test using a new clean Firefox profile, maybe even safe mode, to eliminate custom settings as a possible cause (https://goo.gl/PNe90E) and report back the results ?

(A bit more context: my Firefox installation is fairly recent, I'm not logged in to a Firefox account, and the only add-on I have installed is 1Password)
I tried safe mode: same result. Then I tried deleting my profile - and loosing all my tabs :( - and creating a new one: same result.
Then I finally realized that I only observe this behavior from Gmail... I tried a few different websites now, and Gmail seems to be the only one that affects the way Firefox works (at least in my machine).
How should we proceed? Let me know if you'd like me to test more things.

Another update: that behavior applies to links from e-mails, but not to links in Hangouts messages (within gmail.com). :)

Eventually I noticed that Gmail always has this behavior, whether the tab pinned or not. Thanks for following up!
