Steps to reproduce:

when opening firefox it does not restore previous browsing session

Hi illumilor.e, thanks for reporting this issue.

I wasn't able to reproduce this on Windows 10 x64 and Ubuntu 16.04 x64, using latest Nightly 61.0a1 (2018-03-18), Firefox Release 59.0.1 and Firefox Release 58.0. After making sure that "Show your windows and tabs from last time" pref from "about:preferences" page was set, I closed the browser clicking the "x" button. After reopening it, the session was correctly restored. 

Are there any additional steps beside the ones I mentioned above?

Also, could you please retest this issue using a new clean Firefox profile (https://goo.gl/7Fec9d), maybe even safe mode (https://goo.gl/AR5o9d), to eliminate custom settings as a possible cause?
