Details

I feel that there should be a generalized interface for disabling of bundles of mime types. There is a menu selection called "block images from this site" which presumably blocks jpeg, gif, png and a host of other stuff. If this was generalized, it would be possible to escape the butt-ugly flashing flash ads several sites seem to find so necessary. So: I would like a generalized menu choice to block some predefined form of content, and I would also like to be able to disable certain mime types alltogether in the mime/helper applications box. It already has a "save to file", I would like a "save to /dev/null" as well. If the menu selection were used to try to block content for a /dev/nulled mimetype, the user should be told. If it is not blocked, a hyperlink to the mime/helper applications with the legend "global blocking functionality" should be shown. It would also be nice if this was taken even one step further, to javascripts and java applets within pages. Not a mime type or separate files that are downloaded, but bothersome in some sites nonetheless. Please feel free to contact me if anything is unclear.
Dupicate of "[REF] implement Macromedia Flash blocker". There are also bugs on having a general plugin manager.... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 70805 ***
