User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/65.0.3325.181 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
On Windows 10 platform
1°) Insert smart card the wrong way
2°) Connect to the HTTPS secured site anyway.
3°) Get message "Secure connection failed" or things like that (which was expected)
4°) Re-insert the smart card correctly (the chip above).
5°) Click the "Retry" botton.
Actual results:
After clicking the "Retry" button
FF hangs endlessly. In the title bar "... Mozilla Firefox (not responding)"
We have to stop it with the upper right close button
Expected results:
After clicking the "Retry" button
FF should display the credential dialog to enter the smart cad pin.
The scenario described above works with the current release (59.0.2)
Screen snapshot of the freeze problem encountered with FF60 beta 8 during SSL connection
Another use case that causes FF 60b to hang:
1°) Remove any card from the reader (a PC/SC contact reader)
2°) Connect to the HTTPS secured site anyway.
3°) Get the message "Secure connection failed" (OK this was expected)
4°) Re-insert the smart card correctly.
5°) Click the "Try again" botton.
At this stage, the loading page status remains as long as I shutdown the browser.

This is probably bug 1447628, which I believe will be fixed in an upcoming beta. Can you try with Nightly or again when the next beta is released?

Hello,
First off, thanks for reply.
I have just tested the yesterday FF Nightly build (2018-04-04) and this version fixes the issue
as you predicted on our smart card scenario !
We're waiting for the next 60 build to test ...
Thanks.

The hang problem is apparently fixed by the Firefox 60 beta 11 (the last beta build from April 09).
The scenario described earlier was tested OK on Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.
Thanks.
