I have not been able to run Chimera (Navigator) since 0.2.6 came out. I launch
the program and it does an "unexpected quit" after sitting for a time on the
splash screen.
MY system is:
iMac DV 400MHz; 320 Megs (in 1 256M PC100-222S and 1 64M PC100-322S DIMM)
Mac OS X v10.1.4 (Build 5Q125)
I'm posting this problem here, as this appears to be the proper site for Chimera
bug reports now. This bug has been reported on mozdev.org also in at least two
instances:
<http://mozdev.org/bug/show_bug.cgi?id=1281>
and
<http://mozdev.org/bug/show_bug.cgi?id=1389>
I have a crash log too which seems to be identical to ones posted in the reports
on mozdev. I'll return and attach the crash log so there's one in this report.
Note: I'm marking this a blocker because all other bugs are irrelevant if you
can't run the application.
However, I am aware that although I have 100% failute to run, there are others
who are successfully running the application and no one seems to have tracked
down the difference.
I hope this bug gets resolved so I can again try Chimera.
Dale
PS: I have tried all of the "delete everything" suggestions for Navigator,
~/.mozilla, ~/Library/Preferences/*Registry and *plist files ... with no effect
on the result.
Yesterday, I checked my archived older versions. I do have v0.2.6.1.
I crashes for me in exactly the same way as 0.2.6 and 0.2.7.
However 0.2.5 runs just fine ... even without trashing a profile that was to be
in play for versions that crashed.
Same system as my original report.
Dale
I just downloaded Chimera 0.2.8 to try it. It "unexpectedly quits" just like
0.2.6 and 0.2.7 do with the same crash log as I posted before for 0.2.7.
Chimera remains unusable :((
[Note: I modified the summary to include 0.2.6 thru 0.2.8.]
Dale
Summary: Chimera 0.2.7 (and 0.2.6) crash (unexpectedly quit) at the splash screen. → Chimera 0.2.6, 0.2.7, and 0.2.8 crash (unexpectedly quit) at the splash screen.

Same on:
iMac G4-800 /w 512 MB RAM, MacOS X 10.1.4
Cleaned up all Mozilla/Netscape related stuff (including ~/.mozilla folder)
before, especially all related preferences files.

This should take care of it - tested and verified by dales@tcs.wap.org.
BTW, I have tested the 6/1 and 6/2 nightly builds ... not fixed yet. They
continue to "unexpectedly quit' on the splash screen.
I do know that there's not been enough time for checking and checking in the
patch that's been proposed and has been working for me in testing this weekend.
I can only say that for: iMac DV 400 MHz w/ 320 Megs and Mac OS X 10.1.4 (Build
5Q125).
Later ...
