A lot of extensions unfortunately collect data from the pages that the users visits. We should probably start to restrict access of content scripts and the extension UI code from private windows so that the URI, titles and the DOM for the pages visited in private windows would be inaccessible to extensions.
Chrome, Opera and Edge disallow extensions in private windows by defaults. Chrome and Opera provide the option to turn extensions on for private windows, which is useful for things like privacy extensions. I haven't tested Safari...
