[Affected versions]:
- latest Nightly 61.0a1
- latest DevEdition 61.0b1
- Release 59.0.3
- Esr 52.8.0

[Affected platforms]:
- Windows 10 x64- Mac OS X 10.11
- Ubuntu 16.04 x64

[Steps to reproduce]:
1. Launch Firefox.
2. Access the following website https://ipstack.com/
3. Observe the "LOOK" and the "UP" buttons in the webpage.

[Expected result]:
- The "LOOK" and the "UP" buttons are properly rendered in the browser.

[Actual result]:
- The "LOOK" and the "UP" buttons are not properly rendered in the browser.

[Regression range]:
- Not a recent regression I was able to reproduce it on FF 54 as well.

[Additional notes]:- It seems that Opera browser and Chrome are not affected by this bug
One of the ancestor elements of that button is <div class="ipchecker">
which is styled with width:500px, if I toggle that declaration off
in devtools the button looks fine. I suspect this is merely a web site
issue and not an actual layout bug. Please reassign to Core/Layout
in case you have a reduced testcase that shows it's an actual bug.
Component: Layout: HTML Frames → Desktop
Product: Core → Tech Evangelism
I suspect this is a 1 or 2px subtle font rendering difference that is breaking the fixed width assumptions of the design.

The server is on GitHub, but I don't see the website: https://github.com/apilayer/freegeoip

Issue exists in Safari as well.

Reaching out to support@ipstack.com

They have forwarded this to their devs.

Hello,

This issue is still reproducible on esr 68.10.0 only on the Ubuntu platform.

Also not only is the Look UP button not rendered properly but the geolocation ping on the left is rendered out of the ip field bounds.

I added a screenshot with the issue

Thanks -- it seems like this is still an issue on linux (and Safari).

Severity: normal → S3
Flags: needinfo?(miket)

The issue is not reproducible on a device with a display diagonal of 14.7" (37.3 cm) having the following display dimensions: width x height: 12.8" x 7.2" (32.5 cm x 18.3 cm)
https://prnt.sc/OZpsqdgax2lE

but is reproducible on devices having a larger display diagonal, in my case 22.9" (58.2 cm), having the following display dimensions: width x height: 20" x 11.3" (50.8 cm x 28.7 cm)

https://prnt.sc/QhpSBRKbzpcy

Tested with:

Browser / Version: Firefox Nightly 101.0a1 (2022-04-11) (64-bit) / Chrome Version Version 100.0.4896.88 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Operating System: Windows 10 PRO x64

Notes:

  1. Reproducible regardless of the status of ETP.
  2. Reproducible on the latest build of Firefox Nightly.
  3. Works as expected using Chrome.

I was not able to reproduce this issue on the latest Nightly. Oana, can you take a look and confirm, please?

Tested on:
Operating system: Windows 10
Firefox version: Nightly 110.0a1 (2023-01-11) / Chrome 108.0.5359.125

Note: Tested on 24" monitor, resizing the browser's window does not make the issue reproduce

Flags: needinfo?(oana.botisan)

I can still reproduce the issue on Windows 10 x64 while using Firefox 110.0b2 and Nightly 111.0a1 (2023-01-18).
On the other hand on macOS 12 and Ubuntu 16 x32, the site seems fine. I can't reproduce the issue there. It's just a Windows issue it would seem.
