Using 1999092209 on win98 sending in IMAP brings up this alert dialog [String ID
2147024809?]. Click OK, the Compose window re-opens, but the message is sent.
1. Launch Messenger, and select an IMAP account.
2. Click New Msg
3. Type in all data necessary to send a message and click Send
Result: Alert dialog [String ID 2147024809?] pops up, after clicking OK message
is sent but compose window re-opens.
Summary: IMAP only - Click Send Alert dialog appears compose window re-opens → IMAP only - Click Send Alert dialog appears compose window re-opens

Hmmm this is very strange...the message was sent for me and I didn't get the
compose window to pop up. But I filed a bug last night on the fact that the
compose window WASN't coming back even when there was an error...
I'm confused =)

Sspitzer says this is a bug in the migrated code involving copying messages to
the Sent folder for imap.
Re-assigning to him.

accepting.
I'm incorrectly migrating the 4.x fcc uri, and now that we are heeding it, we
see this.
easy to fix. hope to have the fix this afternoon.

I've got a fix in hand .
seeking reviewer and approval now...
So, are you saying this only happens if the Sent folder isn't assigned correctly
when sending because a migrated pref puts a funny string
("rdf:http://home.netscape...") in the Copies and folder settings field. If so,
this should happen for a POP account too if the Sent folder assignment is
bogus. Let me know if this fix went in. I'm still seeing it on the 19990929
win build.
News on Mac has similar problem:
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15213
Linux (1999-10-01-18 M10)
This problem also occurs on Linux when using the IMAP account.

yes, I'm seeing it.
DoFcc() is failing, which is causing the alert to pop up.
I think it's related to how the sent folder prefs got migrated. I'll look into
it now.

I know what's wrong, we don't have the desired sent folder in our datasource,
and the back end requires it, and when it fails to find it, it returns failure
and pops up that nasty numeric alert.
there are three fixes I'm working on.
1) fix the folder not in data source problem (following an idea davidb just
gave me)
2) fix the alert to be non-numeric, in case the copy on sent really fails
3) related, fix the bogus code that determines if the sent folder is local or
not

this should be working better, but there may be more to do, I need to debug
more.
from my last comment...
#1 is implemented, but I need to check how it works with a non top-level folder
and with local mail
#2 is implemented, expect to see english instead of a number for this type of
error
#3 is checked in.
not marking fixed until I've done more checking (see comments above).
this is just a heads up that things should be working better tomorrow (10-12-99)

I just landed some more fixes for the 4.x uri conversion on mac and windows.
still more testing to do before I mark this fixed.
I'd recommend re-running -installer, so your 5.0 copies and folder prefs are
fixed.

Linux (1999-10-15-08 M11)
Mac (1999-10-15-11 M11)
Win_nt (1999-10-15-11 M11)
IMAP: click Send, no more alert dialog. Compose window closes and message is
sent.

Ooop!
I mistype the win_nt build number. It should be:
Win_nt (1999-10-15-12 M11)
Component: LDAP Java SDK → Networking-Mail
Product: Directory → MailNews
Comment 18•25 years ago
|
||
Why is the component and product changed to Directory - LDAP? I'm correcting
this back.
Comment 19•25 years ago

I see from the bug activity that ferl@etopware.com changed this.
ferl@etopware.com - I'm cc'ing you so you know that you did this by accident.
Please don't change product/component of bugs that you are not working on.
Thanks.
