This is a spin-off of https://webcompat.com/issues/16598 ===== As reported by the user ===== I've noticed Firefox Nightly having a huge "Energy impact" in mac OS's Activity Monitor, and it indeed have a great impact on the general performance of my laptop. I've noticed this usually happens if I am on ForeignPolicy.com, I've tried to let it idle on other websites to see if this would happen again. https://webcompat.com/uploads/2018/4/aea6cf66-f574-4ff1-842a-3cd154b63277.jpg <details>
Browser Configuration

buildID: 20180424013604

gfx.webrender.blob-images: true

gfx.webrender.all: false

gfx.webrender.enabled: false

image.mem.shared: true

channel: nightly

</details> ================================== Check https://webcompat.com/issues/16598 for additional details
