Details

https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/source/build/submit_telemetry_data.py#17 I had someone reach out to me this weekend baffled by this. We probably ought to move this to connecting to a hostname with HTTPS.
gps, does this host support https, or do we need to do something more complicated here?

Build telemetry is currently not enabled by default, you have to explicitly set an environment variable for it to work. I'm going to be working on updating the schema we use and changing things so we submit to the data pipeline team's generic ingestion service, which will more closely match the way we submit Firefox telemetry. This is a totally reasonable concern, but I promise we'll fix it before we enable build telemetry for real! I'm going to dupe this over to bug 1242017, which has been tracking the work to get a real ingestion endpoint.
