Start download. 2. While first download is going on, start second download. 3. If desired, start third and subsequent downloads. Actual Results: Second and subsequent downloads take very long to start; browser seem to have ignored request. Expected Results: Browser should acknowledge download and show download dialog more quickly (even if download progress is still 0 kb).

In my case, it appears that the entire browser is hung during this long delay.

I'm getting the same behavior from Firefox 0.8, 0.9 and 0.9.1 on Windows XP Pro. If you have the download manager set to "show the download manager when a download begins" (in Tools --> Options) it seems to hang the browser and parts of the taskbar (can't click on the show desktop icon, etc.) for a few seconds on any download after the first one. It seems to happen when the download manager is recalculating the percentage and time remaining for each subsequent download. If I turn off auto notification of the download manager, I don't see the bug, but then I obviously don't see my download statuses. This also happens when it recalculates percentage and time after it completes a download and still has one or more downloads to go.

In my case all windows of Mozilla was completely unresponsives for about 10 seconds immediately after it showed the download progress dialog (0%). To me this happen on every donwload, not only on the 2nd+. After this hangs, the download begin and all the windows relive. At the end of download (100%) happen the same hangs again. And then download progress dialog disappear. If I start another download in between another download I see that the fist hangs and stop to receive bytes (I looked to total inband of my network card). I had this problem for some month. I carried this problem with me from Moz 1.2 to 1.7 and it survive to upgrade. So it depend on my profile. Then I tried to discover if this problem happen on another user in my OS, and its not. So I back to my OS account and created a new Moz profiles, and the problem there isn't. So I concluded that the problem is connected exclusively with my normal profile. I looked in my account folder (Windows2K): Q:\Documents and Settings\osAccount\Dati applicazioni\Mozilla\Profiles\default\randomString.slt and I found that there is an enormous file named downloads.rdf that is 2,5 MB in size! If you open this is the XML database of all the downloaded file. In my case there are all file from 2 years ago... I tried to open Download manager and delete some entries, but it took about 10 seconds for entry. I tryied to select all entried and delete in a time, it hanged Mozilla for more than 10 minutes. Simply I killed Mozilla, renamed the file, started Mozilla again and downloaded a new file. Mozilla recreate a new 1KB file and the problem disappear. Then I deleted the renamed file. My idea is that the search/sort code in Download manager is a bit slow to insert or remove an entry, maybe? Plase extend this bug to Windows2000 also. Its better to open a new specific bug for this? I hope that this workaround resolve the hang also to you.
