Details

Running Windows 10 x64 with Firefox 60.0 x64.

GPOs were configured with the 1.0 templates on machine level.

Prior with 60beta15 all GPOs were correctly picked up. Now with 60.0 a bunch of policies are no longer being picked up (read: they dont even show up in about:config).

List of policies:

picked up from GPO and working:
- browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.migrationExpired;true
- browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser;false
- identity.fxaccounts.enabled;false
- network.cookie.cookieBehavior;1
- network.cookie.lifetimePolicy;0
- privacy.trackingprotection.enabled;true
- privacy.trackingprotection.pbmode.enabled;true
- signon.rememberSignons;false
- toolkit.telemetry.enabled;false

picked up from GPO but not working:
extensions.pocket.enabled;false

not picked up from GPO at all:
- browser.search.widget.inNavBar
- browser.startup.homepage
- browser.startup.page
- datareporting.healthreport.uploadEnabled
- datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled
- pref.browser.homepage.disable_button.bookmark_page
- pref.browser.homepage.disable_button.current_page
- pref.browser.homepage.disable_button.restore_default
- startup.homepage_override_url
- startup.homepage_welcome_url
- "whatever policy disabled Firefox auto update"

Please release an updated version of Firefox 60 with actually working GPO support.
Making these policies ESR only is just plain wrong ...
We are running the Firefox 60 ESR edition and it seems that those policies made ESR-only are not even being picked up by the ESR edition either. They worked fine on the 60beta15.

We are leaning towards the idea that some computers that had been configured with CCK2 are having trouble since there are "leftovers" in program directory and perhaps the user's profile. Deployment to a clean computer does seem to work properly with Firefox 60 ESR.
None of the preferences you indicated are available in our GPO. How are you setting them?
Considering they are all appearing as "locked" in about:config they most certainly come directly from the Firefox GPO that I configured with the admx templates downloaded from the official git repo.
Sorry, I misunderstood.

> browser.search.widget.inNavBar

This is not set by the GPO. We don't use the pref for the search bar

All of the rest of the preferences you specified are controlled by ESR only policies.

So they will only work on the ESR.

We are investigating how to make those policies available in rapid release.
