Details

The new spec for the dark theme search/autocomplete bar (bug 1453722) requires that the background of the autocomplete popup be darker than the menu doorhangers. This is not possible unless the theme API adds new properties for `autocomplete` as distinct from `popup`. This was already discussed in comments #20-25 here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1417880#c20 but a consensus was never reached.
