Details

on Windows/MacOS/Linux, there is native notification API to convert application notifications into system native ones.
This ticket means using it whenever possible.

This bug affects Thunderbird too: it would be perfect to integrate both Firefox and Thunderbird with the native notification system of the OS in use.

I think everyone agrees with the bug but it's not useful as-is since we already do support native notifcations on macOS and Gnome (depending on the notification content). I'll dupe this to the Windows bug which would have the highest impact.
