Build: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.0rc2) Gecko/20020512 When forwarding the message below, does not include the URLs in the message. There are blank spaces where the URLs should appear. Could this be because there are < > around the URLs? I CAN FORWARD THE MESSAGE FROM MY INBOX IF YOU WANT THE ACTUAL MESSAGE. ________________________________________________________ From - Thu May 23 15:51:53 2002 X-UIDL: 23637-986584323 X-Mozilla-Status: 0001 X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000 Return-Path: <list@aka.mcom.com> Received: from aka.mcom.com ([205.217.237.180]) by judge.mcom.com (Netscape Messaging Server 4.15) with ESMTP id GWL5PN02.AJC for <susiew@judge>; Thu, 23 May 2002 15:41:47 -0700 Received: (from list@localhost) by aka.mcom.com (8.10.0/8.10.0) id g4NMfjo07582 for susiew; Thu, 23 May 2002 15:41:46 -0700 (PDT) Date: Thu, 23 May 2002 15:41:43 -0700 (PDT) Old-X-Envelope-From: xbrowser-list-feedback@netscape.com Thu May 23 15:41:43 2002 Delivered-To: vicente@deister.es Resent-Date: Thu, 23 May 2002 15:39:44 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <3CED6EE1.9020803@netscape.com> Old-Date: Thu, 23 May 2002 18:36:17 -0400 From: Netscape 6 Technology Evangelists <xbrowser-list-feedback@netscape.com> Reply-To: xbrowser-list-feedback@netscape.com Organization: Netscape Communications User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.0rc2) Gecko/20020512 Netscape/7.0b1 X-Accept-Language: en-us, en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: xbrowser-list@netscape.com Subject: xbrowser-list Newsletter - May 2002 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Resent-Message-ID: <"-3d3JB.A.O9.q8W78"@glacier> Resent-From: xbrowser-list@netscape.com X-Mailing-List: <xbrowser-list@netscape.com> X-Loop: xbrowser-list@netscape.com X-Loop: devsupport-team@netscape.com X-MDRemoteIP: 217.116.0.160 X-MDRcpt-To: xbrowser-list@netscape.com X-MDaemon-Deliver-To: xbrowser-list@netscape.com Old-X-Envelope-To: xbrowser-list Precedence: list Resent-Sender: devsupport-team-request@netscape.com xbrowser-list - The Netscape Cross Browser Web Development Newsletter May 2002 SPECIAL EDITION: Browser Releases and Updates You have received this newsletter because you are subscribed to xbrowser-list@netscape.com . Netscape 7.0 PR1 Released! -------------------------- Netscape has released a preview of its next major browser, Netscape 7.0. You can download this important new release from <http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/7/download.jsp>. Netscape 7.0 PR1 is based on the Mozilla 1.0 Release Candidate 2 build, and contains some amazing new features, the debut of some long-wanted features, and much more. Just a few highlights: * Tabbed Browsing lets users visit multiple web pages in a single window * Bookmark Groups let you save, and then launch, several web pages in one bookmark * Print Preview lets you see a page before you print it * Update Notification tells you when updates to Netscape are available * Support for the P3P (Privacy Preference Project) standard * New corporate features in Netscape Mail including S/MIME, Secure LDAP, and Offline LDAP * Mail labels allow you to prioritize your emails * Integrated support for both AIM and ICQ Combined with some of the best standards support in the world, these features make Netscape 7.0 an unparalleled browser. Don't just take our word for it, though. Here's a sampling of the coverage 7.0 PR1 has been receiving: "Netscape 7.0: A Lot to Like" http://www.eweek.com/article/0,3658,s=1884&a=27241,00.asp "First Look at Netscape 7.0: A Good Start" http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,100564,00.asp "Netscape 7 Preview Release 1 - Software Review" http://www.cnet.com/software/0-3227883-8-9916554-1.html?tag=rev Intrigued? Just go to <http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/7/download.jsp> and get a preview of the future. Is Your Site Netscape 7 Friendly? --------------------------------- Some quick tips for developers: * Only Flash 6 is bundled with Netscape 7 Preview Release. * If you are specifically detecting "Netscape 6," now is a good time to start detecting "Gecko" instead. That way you'll detect all browsers based on the Netscape Gecko embedding browser with one sniff. See <http://developer.netscape.com/evangelism/docs/articles/find-gecko/> for details. * Got audio or video? Making RealPlayer the default for Netscape Gecko users will result in your best user experience. Windows Media Player is not bundled or scriptable with Netscape Gecko browsers-- although you can embed this player in web pages. * Make sure your server has the correct MIME types configured before you start serving it up! Sending data such as stylesheets with incorrect MIME types can lead to a poor experience for your users. See <http://developer.netscape.com/evangelism/docs/technotes/incorrect-mime-types/> for more information. Get more standards and Gecko compatibility tips and tools at <http://developer.netscape.com>. Netscape 6.2.3 -- Recommended Upgrade ------------------------------------- Developers should upgrade to Netscape 6.2.3 as soon as possible, and encourage their clients to do the same. A flaw that could potentially allow a malicious web site to read files stored on a user's computer has been discovered in Netscape 6.1 through 6.2.2 versions of the Netscape browser. There are no known instances of this flaw being exploited. Netscape encourages those using versions 6.1 through 6.2.2 to upgrade to the recently released Netscape 6.2.3 browser, which is not subject to this potential flaw. You can download Netscape 6.2.3 from <http://wp.netscape.com/computing/download/>. Sorry my report was lame: Only the URLs with < > around them do not display. The ones that are just plain URLs display fine when forwarded.

Just wanted to say that this bug does not affect only URLs surrounded by < >. Plain sgml/xml/html tags inserted in a message, for instance when you quote a source, are also omitted. Correction : start tags are omitted, I never tried with end tags.
