Also sometimes the new tab page looks like the attached file new_tab_issue.jpg not sure if relevant to this bug report.

Hi andreip, I didn't manage to reproduce the crash on the latest Nightly 62.0a1 (2018-06-06). However, I'm assigning a component to involve the development team in a proper review.
