From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.0rc3)
Gecko/20020523
BuildID: 2002052305
I have placed the MRJ Plugin into the /Library/Internet Plugins/ folder and
Mozilla fails to detect it is there when I ask it to list all available plugins.
I also went to my site to see if the applet will load anyways and it does not.
This works in IE for OSX, IE for windows and Mozilla RC3 for Windows
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install MRJ plugins
2. go to java website (core.sdf1.net/corebbs.html)
3. java does not load, says plugin is not installed
Actual Results: plugin not installed
Expected Results: java applet should start
WorksForMe using FizzillaCFM/2002052305 (RC3).
Ray, did you properly install the MRJ Plug-in? You must either:
1. Place an alias of the "MRJPluginCarbon alias" file in /Library/Internet
Plug-Ins, or
2. Copy all four "MRJPlugin*" files to that folder.
Which method did you use?
Severity: major → normal

The plugins that are in the package that I have contain 2 folders, one
for Netscape 4.x and the other for Netscape 6. In the NS6 folder is
the MRJPlugin and MRJPlugin.jar file. I do not have the
MRJPluginCarbon or the 4th file you mention.
I have placed said files into /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
BTW: I went to the following URL to get the package that I was attempting
to use. http://www.mozilla.org/oji/MRJPlugin.html
Ray, that's probably an old version of the plug-in. Try a newer version from
[http://homepage.mac.com/pcbeard/MRJPlugin/].

After installing the latest MRJ plugin and revisiting the page. It does load,
however when you try and interact with the Java Telnet client Mozilla
unexpectedly closes. I was able to reproduce it a number of times.
Confirmed that interactnig with the applet causes Mozilla to crash.
1. Access the URL
2. Press any key
Mozilla crashes. Crash Report to come.
Severity: normal → critical
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Keywords: crash
Summary: Java applet does not load → Java applet crashes Mozilla
(This is using FizzillaCFM/2002052305 (RC3) and MRJ Plug-in 1.0FC2.)

Using the 2002-10-14-03 trunk under 10.2.1, the applet loads properly without
resulting in a crash

However, this is still a problem on the branch OS X build (2002-10-14-05)
running under 10.2.1 and 10.1.5.

This has happened to me several times when viewing a site that has a java applet
whether in the parent window or a child window. I am using Mozilla 1.2.1 on Mac
OS 9.1 (Can't use mac OS 9.2.2 or X. Computer too old).
