It seems to be ignored in Firefox. I haven't tried in Chrome, but the other reporter in this forum says it works: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/gmail/9N0Y4_laLv4;context-place=forum/gmail

Hmm. None of the shortcut keys (C to compose, etc) seem to be working for me in Chrome either in my GMail account, either for classic GMail or while trying the new design. Can anyone else reproduce?

I just tried in chromium and Firefox. For me, 'C' for compose worked in both. '_' worked in chromium but not Firefox.

Huh. It's working for me in Nightly as well. It was not working as of a week or two ago (I had tried it just out of curiousity; I've switched to U now), though I don't update much so that Nightly could have been a month or two old then.
Cool, I'm good now.
