Details
The current version of the churn table in telemetry does not have back filled data for the first half of 2017 to allow calculation of week 1, 3 and 6 retention key metrics. Bug is to backfill the data in churn v3 so as to allow calculation of week 1, 3 and 6 + retention for acquisitions beginning Jan 1, 2017.
Not being able to calculate week 1, 3 and 6 retention rates for the first half of 2017 is making it difficult to understand whether user behaviour has changed in the first half of 2018. The marketing organization is therefore unable to determine whether the team is acquiring quality users which could result in wasted resources. In addition due to the seasonality of the business, not having prior year comparisons results in lack of proper benchmarking.

The Churn V3 data is dependent on the new profile ping, which was added in September of 2017 (via Bug 1351394).
As such, data older than this would not be comparable with new cohorts that include new profile pings, so I think it's best to leave the data as-is.
