Details
Firefox 62 is shipping on September 5 with the Canadian English (en-CA) locale for the first time. I’m serving as one of the localizers.
Is it possible to use geo-targeting snippets to promote the new locale to American/British English (en-US/GB) Firefox users living in Canada?
There is no easy upgrade path; users have to reinstall the en-CA version to change their locale. A snippet for Release channel users should link to the download page at https://www.mozilla.org/en-CA/firefox/
The en-CA locale is already available on the Beta, DevEdition and Nightly channel. A snippet for these pre-release channel should link to https://www.mozilla.org/en-CA/firefox/channel/desktop/

Reinstalling is a scary thing for most users, and hardly easy to explain in the space available for a snippet.
While I see an advantage for en-CA, the risk of losing some of these users because something goes wrong seems pretty high. In a few releases we are going to have a language switcher in preferences, that seems like an easier target than asking existing users to reinstall Firefox.

That sounds great. Then we can start this campaign after that, not with Firefox 62.

The current target is 64, hopefully it won't slip past that.
