Details

When the Email client is used to read a series of emails, the Delete key will not actually delete a message until the Edit->Delete menu selection is chosen or the Alt-D, E keyboard command is issued. After this has been done once, the Delete key will function properly. If I close the mail window that I was reading or come to the end of available messages and begin to read another series of messages, the workaround must be repeated. This a reproducible bug and is consistent in the Win32 build.

Reporter, Can you please give us the build id you are using? Is this a pop account? Also are you reading your emails in 3 pane or a stand alone window? Are you using the Next button to go the next unread message in the 3 pane through the standalone window. Can you provide reproducible test case?
Reporter's comments via email: Build ID: 2002052309 Pop Account: Yes Window Type: Standalone Mail Ops: I generally use the keyboard for mail navigation and this is why I noticed the problem in the first place. Test Case: 1. Run Mozilla Mail Client. 2. Assuming that you have more than one message in your inbox and you have not selected the last message, select any available message for viewing. 3. When the message is shown in its own window, attempt to delete the message by pressing the 'Delete' key. 4. Observe that nothing happens. 5. Select the Edit->Delete Message menu option -or- the Alt-E, D keyboard shortcut and the message will be deleted and the next message opened. 6. When the next message is opened in the window, observe that the 'Delete' key will function properly.
reporter, I am not able to reproduce this problem with the steps below. I see that you mention using keyboard for navigation, may be that is the key to be able to see this problem. May be I am not doing the same as you are. Can you also mention how you use the keyboard for the steps below.
