User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:61.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/61.0 Build ID: 20180807170231 Steps to reproduce: Connected iMac to Sync account, then iPhone 8 to Sync account. Hoped to see iMac Bookmarks & Logins appear in iPhone Firefox. (I have already successfully migrated these categories of items from PC to iPad for my wife's Sync account.) When no data was exchanged by sync, I tried reducing the transfer settings, but no joy. Actual results: FF Settings for both iMac & iPhone show both devices. On iPhone, Bookmarks folder is still empty, and when I inspect Logins I get a cogwheel rotating forever. When I trigger a Sync from either device, the arrows rotate for 2 or 3 seconds. Expected results: I had hoped to see Bookmarks and Logins transferred. I'm not wise enough to interpret the weave/logs file (attached).
That error log shows that desktop, at one time, saw a network error and failed to reach the sync servers. This is probably somewhat normal and is probably not an indication of the issue you are seeing. You could try installing the https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/about-sync/ addon on your mac, and verify that you can see all your bookmarks listed as being on the server (in the "Records (table)" tab) - that will at least let you know whether the problem is that the Mac isn't writing them to the server or whether the iphone simply isn't dragging them down.
Thanks, Mark. (Been away.) Have now installed About Sync. Bookmarks: "Downloaded all 1371 records (9 deleted)". Passwords: "Downloaded all 122 records (0 deleted)". Subsequent log files are without any reported errors, as you suspected would be the case. Now I need guidance to make my iPhone drag it all down - "Logins" gives me ever-rotating cog wheel. "Bookmarks" says "Bookmarks you save will show up here". Is About Sync compatible with FF for iOS, I wonder, so that we could interrogate iPhone logs? On iMac, Preferences>Firefox Account>Manage Account>Devices & apps shows "Firefox on Bev's-iMac (Current Device) & Firefox on Bev's iPhone" and the same (reversed) on the iPhone. Am struggling a bit to correctly interpret log files (even though I'm a retired Principal Software Engineer from a UK national firm), so any suggestions would be welcome. So this makes it look like desktop is writing the bookmarks fine but the iphone is struggling to sync. Justin, is there any advice you can offer?
