From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0rc2) Gecko/20020510 BuildID: 2002051009 If you use IMAP mode with "mark as deleted" mode set (where it puts a red X on the message on delete), moving (dragging) a single message to a folder marks the inbox message with the X as expected. However, moving multiply selected messages to a folder makes them disappear until the next time new mail is checked, when they all come back (correctly with red X's) and cause the new mail beep. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Make sure IMAP and "mark as deleted" are used 2. Select multiple mail messages in the Inbox with ctrl-click or other 3. Drag the messages into a folder. Actual Results: They go away (disappear from Inbox) and come back with a beep next time new mail is checked. Expected Results: They should simply get the red X as in the case of a single message move.

If anyone got a bounce sending to my email (joe@skyrush.com), it was my spam filter filtering "nobody" - it let's this through now.
Joe Peterson: is this bug still an issue for you? Have you tried a later build?
Yes, this still happens under Mozilla 1.3 Linux. -Joe
Bug 67172 comment 10 describes your symptom, with a workaround in the following comment, but I'm afraid that bug has gotten kind of vague, covering several different issues (as seen by comments 32 et seq. there). I couldn't find any other earlier bugs that describe the same thing. So, I'll confirm this.

What makes this bug particularly dangerous, is that when the messages disappear, it causes the summary pane items to shift up. If the user wants to read or delete an e-mail while this happens, he will accidentally open (a not-yet-marked-junk-with-remote-content) or delete (an important message). It sounds like an unlikely scanario, but this happens to me very often, especially wile large amounts of junk are being analyzed->deleted. Dataloss! version 1.0+ (20050327)

Note that I have not seen this happen for quite some time. Not sure if it still is an issue in recent thunderbirds... Has anyone else seen this happen lately? -Joe
This seems to have been fixed sometime after I reported it originally, so marking WORKSFORME.
