Currently, styles of MathML elements are not complelely controllable by CSS, in the long term, we would want to implement it.

FYI, there is already a UA styles for MathML: https://dxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/layout/mathml/mathml.css?q=mathml.css

There is also some spec work in progress to make MathML more aligned with CSS: https://mathml-refresh.github.io/ ; that's going to be a big effort though.
