Steps to reproduce:
This is an enhancement proposal: since opening links in a new tab is done in the background, it should be easier to change tabs otherwise than opening the tab screen.
The pop in suggesting to open a newly background opened tab (apart from being irritating) only allow to display the last opened tab. If you're on a research list and want to open several links in the background, you can't easily switch among them.
An easy way to make this easier should be to adopt an already popularised gesture: swipe from the edges to display previous/next tab.
Nb: even if this gesture is already in use for back/forward history use, the option to choose between this behaviour and change tab shoud be available for the user.
