From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020530 BuildID: 2002053012 When viewing a media file (MPEG, QuickTime movie, etc.) not embedded in an HTML page, if the tool bars and tabs are not shown, there appears to be no way to either navigate (go back or forward, go to a specific URL), or to exit full screen mode. I've been using Mozilla like this with no UI elements visible (except scroll bars or sometimes tabs) when I'm browsing on a small monitor. I can navigate from the keyboard or the contextual menu. Apparently, the QuickTime plug-in presents its own contextual menu, and Alt+left arrow doesn't work to go back, Ctrl+Shift+L doesn't work to enter a URL, and F11 doesn't work to exit full screen mode. Of course the (auto-hidden) Windows task bar also refuses to reappear in full screen mode, so I'm really stuck. The only thing that seems to work is Alt+F4 to close the window, which in Windows generally exits Mozilla unless there are other Mozilla windows open. I don't know what the solution to this would be, since most of the problem is with the intentional behavior of the QuickTime plug-in. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Hide all the tool bars and other user interface elements from the View menu. 2. Close all other tabs. 3. Enter full screen mode from the View menu, or press F11. 4. Press Ctrl+Shift+L to navigate to the URL of a media file handled by the QuickTime plug-in. 5. Go ahead and try to navigate or exit full-screen mode--you're stuck! Actual Results: Mozilla didn't respond to anything other than Alt-F4, which exited the application. Expected Results: I would have hoped Mozilla would respond to keyboard navigation or the F11 key.

This is a problem with all plugins - they steal keyboard shortcuts from the browser by default. Sometimes they might let a few through if they know them to be important keys for the browser. See bug 93149 and bug 140566. I believe this is a DUP of 140566 - can the reporter check?

Yes, this appears to be a duplicate of 140566. I came at this from a different angle, and didn't see any bugs like this relating to full screen mode, which was how I queried for previously reported bugs. The original reporter of 140566 was using Mozilla on a Mac; I don't know if it's possible to access the Mac menu bar in full-screen mode, but in Windows I get nothing, which makes the behavior basically fatal. Of course, it is avoidable... unless you click on a movie or PDF inadvertently.

So it is a dupe of Bug 140566, or would you like to explore this more on Win95 to make sure?

It's a dupe. The annoyance may or may not be more severe under Windows; I don't know if the Mac menu bar is affected. But the cause seems to be exactly the same.
