Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD amd64; rv:56.0; Waterfox) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.2.3

Steps to reproduce:

Probably in 2017 – certainly before a mid-2018 shift from GitHub to GitLab <https://github.com/KevinRoebert/ClearUrls/issues/52> – I installed ClearURLs:

<https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/clearurls/>

Subsequent updates included versions of the extension that no longer refer to GitHub for the home page, or for support.

Actual results:

Months after updating to a version that did not refer to GitHub, there's outdated metadata such as this in addons.json:

> … "homepageURL":"https://github.com/KevinRoebert/ClearUrls","supportURL":"https://github.com/KevinRoebert/ClearUrls" …

----

The staleness is not peculiar to this extension; and it's not only the homepageURL and supportURL fields that are affected.

Expected results:

addons.json should be updated. (Should it not?)
Component: Untriaged → Extension Compatibility
I'm unable to reproduce this with the following specs:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0

The addons.json seems to point to the correct urls. I think this might be something related to only Waterfox users or for users of version 56.2.3 and before?

Per Comment 1, can you try a fresh profile of Firefox release and see if you can reproduce the JSON files there?
OK, I created a new profile and added a couple of extensions:

https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/onlytrue/

https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/simplicity-newtab/

I'll probably not tell whether the issue is reproducible unless the name changes (again) for either of those.

AMO aside for a moment, can we identify any extension at (say) addons-dev.allizom.org where it's certain that the name _will_ change?
