Not sure if this is a website issue or a toolkit issue in Firefox.

I can't seem to get either Safari or Chrome Canary to go into fullscreen when pressing "f" or "F" at the link provided. Which browsers tend to perform the expected behaviour?

Chrome did for me, will check this week again.

Chrome 70.0.3538.77 does show the intended behaviour.

With Chrome 70.0.3538.77 , I'm only able to enter fullscreen with the keyboard by focusing the video with the mouse, and then using Ctrl-F. This also appears to work in Firefox Nightly.
Are you just hitting "F" and no other key? Do you need to focus some area of the browser first before this works?

Yes, solely hitting "F". All I did is enter the above link into the URL bar with LCtrl+V, hitting enter, then hitting "F".

I can't get the expected behaviour to work at all. :(
Hey Peter, any chance you might have a moment to see if you can reproduce this difference between Chrome and Firefox?

Hello,
I wasn't able to reproduce this issue, the link provided does not go full-screen by only pressing "F" on any of the browsers.
I did however find a clip( https://clips.twitch.tv/LitigiousRelatedCookieDancingBaby )which goes full-screen by pressing "F" after focusing on the video with the mouse but that also works as intended on Firefox 63.0 and Firefox Nightly 65.0a1.

That's weird. I'll test that on PC later. Btw do you also use Win 10 1803 ? Maybe my specific configuration causing it?

Yes, and I've also tested it on Windows 7 / Mac Os 10.14 and got the same results.

So? How can we further identify the cause?

We need to understand what about your configuration is allowing you to do this. If you create a new testing profile[1], are you still able to use the "F" shortcut without Ctrl?
I also idly wonder if we're falling into a Twitch A/B test. :/

It seems you misunderstood, Mike :P ("..., are you then still able to use F without Ctrl")
Sorry for not having described in detail:
The problem is, I'm expecting Firefox to behave that way, that only "F" will fullscreen it (without the need to hold "LCtrl", as afaik "LCtrl+F" is only meant to open the search bar in any website), just like Chrome browser does (in Chrome only "F" will switch the Twitch video stream into fullscreen mode).
It also worked fine in FF in 60 or 61 iirc. (Only "F" to enable video fullscreen)

I apologize - you're right, I've been misunderstanding here.
So I guess the question is: "What about your configuration of Chrome is different such that you're able to fullscreen videos by key-ing F, and none of us are able to".
Here's another way of attacking this - how did you realize that F would allow you to fullscreen the video? Is this a feature that Twitch explicitly offers and documents somewhere?

Aaaah sorry! I just found out that the "BetterTTV" addon is causing it!
In Chrome, the addon enables the feature to go fullscreen with just "F". The Firefox addon "BetterTTV" (same developers) however doesn't allow that feature, that is the weird thing.
I just now asked them for an ETA on a patch for the Firefox addon, to enable the "F"-only feature again.
Sorry for the confusion!
