"Warn you when closing multiple tabs" has no effect for existing profiles

Details

In two different profiles (one I use for web browsing, one for web development), the "Warn you when closing multiple tabs" option has no effect. If I press command-Q with multiple tabs open, the browser quits without warning.

I am on Firefox Nightly 64.0a1 (2018-10-16) (64-bit), macOS 10.12.6

Additionally, there is no checkbox for this option in about:preferences but I know I had it enabled before.

In about:config, I can confirm that all of my warnOn* settings regarding tabs are set to true (they are set to default values).

If I create a fresh new profile, I *do* see a warning when closing multiple tabs but the checkbox for this option is still not visible in about:preferences.
Someone suggested to me that this could be a duplicate of bug 550559 but I'm not sure.

The checkbox is hidden if the option is enabled. This is why you don't see it. You can see the warning by e.g. opening a window, opening a second tab in it, and then closing the window.

Right, the difference is that your existing profiles are set to restore the session automatically, which causes us to never display the warning. Decoupling these is the subject of bug 550559
