What hardware are you on? Can you reliably reproduce such a dramatic slowness?

Memory usage for me seems to be abnormally high on this page too, Firefox is using about 4 GB.

After looking at this a little more, this seems to be a problem with video decoding as both Windows Task Manager and GPU-Z are reporting that my GPU is pegged at 100% in the video decode pipeline, so this might be media related.

Just tried in Edge and the same thing happens. So, my guess is that this is either a problem with DXVA2 or an Nvidia driver bug for my particular hardware. Any ideas on figuring out which one is at fault?

Hey Jeff,
Yes, I can still reproduce this. It seems to perform slightly better than it did 4 months ago, but still pretty terrible. Here is a new profile https://perfht.ml/2TIIW24. Let me know if I can provide you with anymore information.

Just for comparisons sake here is another profile on my new machine https://perfht.ml/2THovCV. Performs pretty smoothly, though the profile shows some high composite and CONTENT_FRAME_TIMEs.

It looks like the page has changed. We have a number of other performance bugs on file about pages with fancy scrolling effects so I'll close this one.
