On some pages, the text contained in <a></a> tags does not word-wrap correctly;
the first several words overwrite themselves at the wrap point, and occasionally
extend past the margin.
In the linked URL, the sentence beginning "On 08/15/2001" in the first paragraph
contains a link to a CERT vulnerability report. Depending on browser width, the
text in this link ("Vulnerability Note VU#476267") will overwrite itself as
shown in the first attached image. I've attached a second image that shows the
text after resizing my browser window.
This effect can also be seen at http://www.glish.com/ in the "online weblog"
entry for May 30, 2002.
All other pages where I've seen this behaviour do their layout with <table>
and/or <div> tags (as do the examples given here). However, not all pages that
contain wrapping links inside <table> or <div> tags exhibit the problem.
Linux 2002060708 trunk -sea build, and seen in a previous build from 20020531.
