If you press reply on a IMAP message and then do a "Save as Draft" and edit that draft and send it, the status of the message that you replied to doesn't get status "Replied". 20020607
This seems a duplicate of bug 128996 : Sending a draft does not update the 'Read/Replied' status. The problem is not IMAP - specific, since I experience the same thing with regular POP/SMTP mail.
