Recently, when I downloaded Mozilla 1.0, I found this option to block pop-ups. This would be done by going into the Preferences, then Advanced, then Scripts & Windows. On there, there is an option to show unrequested windows. Normally, this option is on. I thought by deselecting this option would block all pop-ups available on the Internet. However, when I accessed the URL indicated to log into my e-mail account, there appears to be a problem. Normally, when logging into a E-mail account at http://www.mail.com, a pop-up saying "A Great Deal For You" comes up. Mozilla managed to block that. However; when I selected some of the messages and deleted them, or decided to empty the trash bin; the pop-ups weren't blocked. I'll display an attachment to show the proof. Actually, it is a pop-up controlled by some JavaScript operation since when I highlighted over the Delete button at Mail.com, it had JavaScript something at the Status Bar. The same goes for some of the security sites such as http://www.cracks.am and a few others, but the pop-ups on security and warez sites aren't JavaScript. Therefore, I would recommend fixing up this pop-up issue by Mozilla 1.0.2 or Mozilla 1.1.
please save the mail.com page as a "web page, complete", zip up all the files involved, and attach to this bug.... What are the steps to reproduce on http://www.cracks.am/main.html?
Those popups (mail.com) are impossible to block in a generic way, they are launched in response to a click from the user, so the only valid solution would be to block popups by site (that bug already exists)
I just attached the Mail.com site as recommended. For the site http://www.cracks.am, I just typed that site in the Address Bar. Eventually, after a few seconds, the extra pop-up windows will appear. The same will go for many other security and warez sites.
http://www.cracks.am uses onmouseover pop-ups. This is why I said pop-up blocking should use a whitelist of events, not a blacklist...
The problem at cracks.am is bug 152167. It sounds like the problem at mail.com can't be fixed without also blocking all legit pop-ups. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 152167 ***
