Right now, if an APZ test group times out, the erro message that appears in the log is:
TEST-UNEXPECTED-FAIL | gfx/layers/apz/test/mochitest/test_group_mouseevents.html | Test timed out.
This mentions the name of the test group, but not the subtest that was running when the timeout happened.
You can tell what the subtest was by looking at the preceding lines in the log, but it would be convenient if it was included in the message (it would also allow more accurate classification of intermittents).
It's not immediately clear how to implement this, as the timeout is detected by higher layers in the mochitest harness that don't know about APZ subtests.

A similar scenario that's affected is when a subtest fails by throwing an exception (example).
