There's an onoging joke in the house atm that everything I touch computerwise
breaks. My linux install has the problems I was mentioning the other day and I
can't seem to fix it, so I've withdrawn to Windows, which is allready on the
sick list, giving me "Program too big to fit into memory" problems when I try to
run some programs thta previously worked fine (eg: dungeon siege).

I've been trying to get jython on my system for a couple of hours now so I can
test some java stuff I'm writing as I write it (jython is really good for that,
I find). And I'm having all sotrs of trouble. I downloaded it from their
website, and saved it to my local hard disk as jython-blah.class.exe. That was
the name I was told to save it as in mozilla. I thought - that's a bit wierd -
must be a self-extracting archive. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've had a
huge run around trying to get it installed.

And the long story is a bit like this:
 . initial download
. screwed around for ages trying to get it to work - downloaded some DOS tools
to analyse the EXE and tell me about it
. downloaded it under ie on Jason's machine - hmm - downloads as just
jython-blah.class (no .exe).
. emalied it form his machine to myself
. hmm. mozilla-mail wants to save it as jython-blah.class.exe
. tell mozilla to save it as just jython-blah.class
. mozilla just goes ahead and saves it with the .exe extension
. manually remove the .exe and run java jython-blah
 . it works fine

*sigh*

3.note that it doesn't
4.now download it some other way (wget or under a different browser)
5.email to yourself using a different mail tool

frustration
Dupe.
