Details

scenario details. I have a large imported bookmark from IE and also some others using mozilla itself. Because of the large number of collected urls, I decided to organise the urls into categories. 1. Bookmarks > Manage bookmarks . this opens dialog. 2. I assumed that in organising my urls it worked the same way as in IE. 3. I created new folders and sub folders 4. started moving previous urls into sub categories. 5. Due to the sheer amount of urls , I ended up having to drag individual urls into the sub-folders created earlier. This was a very painful process because I had to scroll down to find the relevant bookmark then I had to scroll back up all the way to the top to the destinated folder. 6. Because of this painful process, I investigated if there are other options available from the menu ? 7. In the end no, so I decided to select a folder and right mouseclick. 8. A dialog menu opens and an option "open in new window" 9. I chose this option and indeed a new window open with just the folders and sub folders. 10. I went back to the original window ith my long list of urls. 11. select the ones I wanted to organize into a category. 12. And then I DRAG them across TO the OPEN WINDOW . 13. Result consequence is that my selected urls disappeared 14. BUT NOTHING APPEARS IN THE NEW WINDOW. 15. I closed both the windows 16. My bookmarks have been lost or buried somewhere else - impossible to tell as yet because my bookmark list IS REALLY REALLY LONG 17. continuing to invetigate further just in case I made an incorrect assumption 18. Nevertheless, it would be great to have a better means to organise the bookmark. 19. At the time of writing I have not yet read through the document but I will do now. Even so I still think a better interface is needed to resolve any misunderstanding in usage. please let me know . Cheers

bug confirmed...sorta...on win98 2002060904 trunk (cut from comment #1) Reproducability: always 1.Bookmarks > Manage bookmarks 2.Right-click a folder -> Open in New window 3.Move a bookmark from "Manage bookmarks" (displaying all folders) to the New window (which displays only 1 mail folder) Actual Result: bookmark DOES NOT MOVE Expected Result: bookmark should appear in the opened mail folder
correction: Actual Result: bookmark disappears from window 1 and never arrives in new window Expected Result: bookmark should appear in the opened mail folder and disappear from window 1
As Joel, I can not reproduce the dataloss: the bookmark is not moved. There are some difference between the trunk and the M1.0 release. Arno, can you reproduce that on a recent trunk build?
Summary: unpredictable behaviour of bookmarked URLs → Folder Window: can not drop bookmark in it
