We have some inconsistencies in the codebase when it comes to code style. We should agree on additional eslint rules so that we don't have to discuss about this during code reviews.

Not really working on this right now, but we discussed about using the no-deprecated eslint plugin to avoid adding more usage of unsupported lifecycle methods. Here is a patch to do just that.
