Apple's "Live Home Page", i.e. the default home page redirect that Apple
supplies with a fresh OS install (supplied -- not sure this is still the case)
is unusably slow in Chimera 0.3 (was even slower pre-"Poor Man's Quartz"
landing). The URL redirects to http://home.netscape.com/apple.adp -- it's a
Netscape portal page with Apple branding and some Apple supplied content.
Anyway, navigation on this page is abysmally slow. Scrolling, form input,
trying to use the URL bar, etc. all lag by several seconds on a 450MHz G3
running 10.1.5.
The culprit appears to be the text crawl at the top of the page.
Performance on this page with stock Fizzilla is pretty **** as well, but not
nearly as bad as in Chimera.
This bug has high visibility, as mentioned before I believe unless a user
specifies otherwise this is the default home page for a new Mac OS X user!

This is bug 146831. dbaron has a fix and it is working for me on linux and win32.
I haven't tried it with a Mac build. Reopen if this is not fixed when bug 146831
is checked in (you will be automagically added to the cc list of bug 146831).
