Branch build 2002-06-07: WinMe Overview: Perform a Quick Search, drag-n-drop the card into a list in the directory pane and a duplicate card is created in the top level address book. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create an address book with 3 cards 2. Create a list with 2 cards 3. Perform a quick search for the 3rd card 4. Select the card from the quick search results, then drag-n-drop onto the list in the directory pane 5. Remove the quick search query so all the address cards appear in the results pane Actual Results: Notice that now there are two identical cards for the 3rd entry. Each time you perform a quick search and then drag-n-drop a card to a list in the dir pane it adds another card to the parent folder. The list itself maintains one card and does not have duplicates of cards. Expected Results: Another idential card should not be created after performing a quick search, then dragging-n-dropping the card on a list.
Marking nsbeta1 because Quick Search is a new feature that reviewers seemed to like so maybe it should be considered for RTM. There is no data loss but the parent address book can appear with many duplicate entries due to a Quick Search/Drag-n-Drop into a mailing list.

Even just making the same card again and again in the same addressbook, there is no warning for users! Addressbook of Netscape Messenger is pretty good at this.
In Mozilla 1.0 Final + Win98SE, 1. Open AddressBook 2. Make a new card in "Personal Address Book", such as name: aaa email: aaa@xxx.com 3. Do it agian as step 2, or said duplicate the same "aaa". 4. No warning for this duplication and you see *two* same cards in "Personal Address Book". 5. Making new cards(duplication) or just drag-n-drop get the same result. A good AddressBook should make warning to users, while duplication occurs. I think the problem is the same as bug#134590, which I filed long long long ago. Hope it will be fixed this time. Thanks a lot.
This bug states that after a Quick Search if a Drag-n-drop is performed then a duplicate should not be created (therefore should never be warned about duplicates being created). Comments #2 and #3 ask that the user be warned that duplicates are being created when manually creating cards with the same name (bug# 45946).
nsbeta1- per mail triage.
