User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 12_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/12.0 Mobile/15E148 Safari/604.1 Steps to reproduce: Go to most any editable site using Firefox Quantum 63.0.3 on Mac (High Sierra 10.13.6) and CMD-V keyboard shortcut does nothing. CMD-C does copy function correctly. Right click mouse ‘Paste’ works but keyboard shortcut does not. From my searching it may be that the website is hijacking that sequence but there also used to be a way in Firefox to stop sites from overriding the shortcuts. I can’t find any place to do that in this version of Firefox. Actual results: Nothing. No paste function occurs. Expected results: What had been copied using CMD-C should have been pasted when hit CMD-V. Or at minimum give a way to stop sites from overriding key basic keyboard shortcuts like paste.

Can you please give an example URL where this happens ? Is CMD-V working here in bugzilla ? Does it make a difference if you start Firefox in the safemode ? - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Hi! My apologies for not doing better testing ahead of time. It works on your site. I tried a number of other sites I use heavily and it works. The place it doesn’t work is on our confluence site at my work place. I use that the most so was thinking it didn’t work on most sites. On confluence the CMd-V will sometimes work once but often not and never work for a 2nd or more paste attempts. Starting Firefox in safe mode makes no difference. Is there a way for me to turn off keyboard override for that site?

This would be a dupe of bug 380637 but that "feature" is not working as it should due to bug 1445942 This is a site specific setting : open the site, right click -> Page Info -> Permissions -> "Override keyboard shortcuts"
Thanks for letting me know where to find override keyboard shortcuts setting. Unfortunately that made no difference. Here is what me testing shows: Note: All of this works every time with Chrome and Safari. Override Keyboard Shortcuts set to Block for the site: Text copied from somewhere on that page: can be pasted once using CMD-V but never again Right-click ‘Paste’ works every time and multiple times After first CMD-V works and then subsequently doesn’t, if I right-click mouse and then click away without doing anything the CMD-V works again - once Text copied from outside Firefox (from an email or such) —same as above can be pasted once using CMD-V but never again Right-click ‘Paste’ works every time and multiple times After first CMD-V works and then subsequently doesn’t, if I right-click mouse and then click away without doing anything the CMD-V works again - once Override Keyboard Shortcuts set to Allow for the site: acts the same as for Block in both cases Text copied from somewhere on that page: can be pasted once using CMD-V but never again Right-click ‘Paste’ works every time and multiple times After first CMD-V works and then subsequently doesn’t, if I right-click mouse and then click away without doing anything the CMD-V works again - once Text copied from outside Firefox (from an email or such) can be pasted once using CMD-V but never again Right-click ‘Paste’ works every time and multiple times After first CMD-V works and then subsequently doesn’t, if I right-click mouse and then click away without doing anything the CMD-V works again - once

I don't know if this problem is really caused by teh site overriding te keyboard shortcut or someing else. There is not much what can be done without a public testcase and I would be very likely the wrong one to analyze the page

I tried testing this bug on our confluence site and few other websites too but didn't encounter this issue. Mac (High Sierra 10.13.6) Build ID 20181114214635 User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0 Placing this under Core:Event handling.

A simple test case would be super helpful for this bug to move on.

Component: Event Handling → User events and focus handling
It's an old thread, but the problem is still present, on both macOS 10.15+ and Win10.
I looked for help on the support, but not a single answer:

As it is (might be?) a bug, I thought this might be a better place. Let me know if I should file a new bug.
