Steps to reproduce:

1. create a new email
2 insert text "ciao"
3 insert a smile from thunderbird bar
4 click next to the smile
5 write something and press Invio for go on new line


Actual results:

Thunderbird 60.3.1 32 bit Windows 10
When i compose an email and use smiles in Thunderbird text are broken this means after insert a smile cursor are unable to go after the smile (there is not intermitting cursor) also text are not more correctly aligned.

If I write "Ciao" than i insert a smile from the toolbar than i write the string fgrf after the smile and than i press enter for go on new line the text is broken as you can see from the screen


Expected results:

Text should be not broken

When was "szdfdf" entered? Is that after "go on new line"?

Seems the issue is created when you click with mouse after the smile as there is no puntator.

Confirmed.
The following text is incorrectly inserted into the smiley block:

That smiley stuff is badly designed and a can of worms :-( - Don't click, just keep typing otherwise the text may end up in the smiley span.

Thanks for the GIF "video". Both the "insert link" and the "smile deletion" issue are well-known. The "insert links" is bug 1273655.
