From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1a) Gecko/20020611 BuildID: 2002061104 Selecting multiple messages within Inbox to be moved to Trash causes ALL file-moving to malfunction when an attempt is made to move the messages. Messages can only be moved one-by-one, which is no good to anyone. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Drag single message from Inbox to Trash .... success! 2. Select multiple messages within Inbox 3. Attempt to move to Trash .... failure 3. Attempt to drag single message as in 1 above ...... failure again. Actual Results: All message-moving from Inbox to Trash disabled. Expected Results: Should be able to select multiple messages and drag all to Trash. Better stil, the Delete key, as in Outlook, should be configured to do the job.
There IS a problem here... |-If I select single message, or consecutive message, |- "DEL" key works. | |-If I ctl-select non-consecutive message, |-"DEL" key does not delete messages. | |-If I ctl-select non-consecutive message, and drag to Trash, |- there is a huge delay. |- If I then go to Trash, |- cursor goes to Hourglass and STAYS that way. I don't get a flat-out crash, though...
If you are crashing in Mozilla the best thing you can do to help the developers fix your bug is to attach a stacktrace. If you're not building yourself you are not out of luck. Mozilla releases nightly and milestone builds with Netscape's Talkback (you can get latest build on: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/) Talkback should catch most crashes and offer to send in a crash report. Developers can retrieve that crash report and attach it to your bug report if you provide either the Incident ID (you can get it by running the talkback program from /components/talkback/). Thanks for your help in testing Mozilla and reporting bugs.

Well, this is a new wrinkle... last night, I found a folder named NSTEMP, with a bunch of messages in it the were SUPPOSED to have been moved elsewhere. I WAS subsequiently able to move the mssgs 1 at a time to a normal folder, and delete the temp folder. This is a big problem. win2k, moz 1.1 mark this on as confirmed at least, dang it - it should be VERY easy to confirm this breakage.
Reporters, I think you are running into bug 150716. I know that bug deals with 'compacting folders' but it broke the ability to move multiple mesgs. comment from another bug: > I noted in the folder compaction bug, this might be a dup of the folder >compaction bug, because that also involves moving multiple messages, and >re-using the file stream. So you reported this bug with June 11 builds. The fix for bug 150716 didn't go in until June 13. If you could download todays trunk build (6/17) [..en-US; rv:1.1a) Gecko/20020617] and confirm that you are seeing this bug that would be helpful. As I can't see this problem with the current builds. thanks.
also reporters, what type of mail account are you using(pop/imap)? Always include the user agent string for the build you are using.. thanks..
Win2k - Pro Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1a) Gecko/20020617 Problem with multiple-message-dragging behavior now seems ok here... Right on!
Garry, I'm going to mark this bug as dupe of bug 150716. If you still run into this problem using a more current build than please reopen. thanks... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 150716 ***
