Details

(Whiteboard: [datetime-issue-6.2])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0

Steps to reproduce:

Created a new event and tried to set the time of the event to something other than the default listed in the dialogue window that appears when creating the event.

Additional details:
Default time that populates the input field is 18.00. I tried, for instance, changing it to 5.0 or 17.00. Regardless of what I select the value always changes back to 0.0
My locale settings involve 24‐hour time, a full stop separator (.) and no padding zeroes (therefore 7.5 not 7.05 for five minutes past seven in the morning). Spanish language locale.

Actual results:

When I clicked away from the drop‐down text box, the time for the event (as well as the time for the event ending) reset to 0.0. Trying to change it after this point, event to the original non‐midnight default value from before does not work. Whenever I type or click on an hour+minute combination, clicking away will reset the time back to 0.0.

Expected results:

The time should have remained as set and been saved with the event.
Do you use a localized version of Thunderbird (which)?

What are your OS and Lightning (Options > Calendar > General) timezone settings?

What is your date and time formatting setting at Options > Advanced > General and to which locale does it resolve?
Flags: needinfo?(beltz19)
Yes. Spanish (Spain).

Format long: SĂĄb 15 Dic 2018
Timezone: América/Chicago at the moment, but changing it (as I've been travelling these days) doesn't improve matters.

I couldn't find what you needed in Options→Advanced→General, so I checked for updates and ended up updating Thunderbird. The bug still persists, but now the following appears.

Options→Calendar→General
Date format: Long: sĂĄbado, 15 de diciembre de 2018
Timezone: América/Chicago

Options→Advanced→General
Regional localization settings is selected: Español (España) / Spanish (Spain)

Please keep in mind that, as I mentioned in the initial bug report, my OS uses the settings I have established which use an older variant not present in most Spanish (Spain) configurations. I use the decimal minute–hour separator, and I use no leading zeroes, both for minutes and hours. So 0.5 and 22.11 and 17.9 are all valid times, whereas 10,0 12,55 11:05 which are also all valid times in various traditional Spanish settings are not considered valid on my OS. The default for Spanish in Windows uses 24‐hour time separated by a colon IIRC.

I have the same issue.

OS: Windows 7
System Locale: Korean
Timezone: Asia/Seoul
Thunderbird localization: Both of Korean and English versions

When I set custom time in event dialog, the saved time is wrong. For example, setting "였후 3:00" (3:00 PM in korean) results in "였전 3:00" (3:00 AM in korean). Both of korean and english TB have problems.
Changing from 'Regional settings locale:Korean' to 'Application locale:English' of english TB resolves the problem.
Well, chowooyoung, you might be experiencing something slightly different than what I am seeing (perhaps due to the same bug, dunno). But I cannot set any time at all, whether AM or PM, as all changes are lost when the time input box loses focus and tries to validate as it then always changes to 0.0 (midnight). Additionally, changing to 'Application locale' does not resolve the issue.

someone else filed the same issue.

Please check with a Daily build if the issue still persits once bug 1503731 landed. Make sure to use a separate or new profile when doing so. Using beta or esr profiles might corrupt them.

Same Bug. Win 10 (1803) x64; Time Zone in Lightning and Windows: America/Toronto (EST); Lightning 6.2.4; system time is 24h format; In Lightning and Windows, Date format is Short: 2019-01-14.

Example: On 2019-01-14, at 17:15, I tried to enter a new event for April 16, 2019 at 14:00. Default duration is 1 hour. Event changes to 13:00 or 15:00 (not consistent) and duration is anything from 2 to 3 hours. Editing the event does not fix the problem.
